The criteria behind our editor’s picks — and the limits of what we claim.
What our editors look at
- Formula information: the ingredients highlighted by the product information and the INCI list printed on the pack.
- Everyday usability: texture, format, jar size and how simply the product fits into a morning or evening routine.
- Clarity of claims: we prefer products that describe themselves modestly as cosmetics.
- Price transparency: a clear local price in local currency.
- Availability: a working order route for the reader’s country.
What our scores mean
Where a page shows an “editorial score”, it is our team’s opinion on the five criteria above, expressed out of 5. It is not a customer rating and it is not based on a laboratory test. We do not publish customer reviews we cannot verify.
What we do not do
- We do not run laboratory or clinical tests, and we do not claim to.
- We do not promise results, and we do not describe cosmetics as treatments for any condition.
- We keep our pages free of artificial urgency: nothing on them is designed to rush you into an order.
